Specialty genetic diversity
genetic improvement
Science Interest
(Past)
I've conducted some fish breeding research in the past as well as population genetics of aquatic animals both the wild populations and hatchery populations. The species I worked with were Clarias macrocephalus, Perna viridis, Pangasianodon hypophthalmus, Macrobrachium rosenbergii. The major finding was the introgressive hybridization in Clarias macrocephalus, genetics for broodstock managemnet of Mekong giant catfish and production of all male giant freshwater prawn.
Science Interest
(Current)
At present, I move myself towards genetic improvement of three main species, Clarias gariepinus, C. macrocephalus and Trichopodus pectoralis. Recently, I have published >10 papers on genetic parameters, selection response, GxE interaction and related topics in 2019-2010.
In the E-Asia project, I, in collaboration with the teams from Japan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka, am studying genetic diversity and reproductive biology of the important Carangid fishes, Caranx ignobilis and Alectis ciliaris.
Science Interest
(Future)
I would like to continue working on genetic improvement of the aforementioned species. In addition, I would like to see intensive research on marine species breeding and culture in Thailand.
